Apprenticeship Training

FTA Training can provide a selection of courses that meets the new Supply Chain and Logistics Level 2 Apprenticeship Standards. Our training:

  • Supports members with the new Apprenticeship Levy by providing flexible, compliant and cost effective training solutions 
  • Gives support to industry apprenticeship training providers to deliver excellent quality apprenticeships 

Courses are available for the following Apprenticeships Standards:

  • LGV Driver Level 2 
  • Supply Chain Operator Level 2 

These courses are available to all apprenticeship training providers and each of the courses available have been mapped to the relevant Apprenticeship Standard. They will help to supply the 20 per cent off the job rule for apprentices. 

Benefits

  • We provide courses nationally via public course dates featured throughout this prospectus, or alternatively through in-company delivery for a maximum of 20 delegates, subject to training facilities available
  • Apprenticeship training providers using FTA courses as part of their training programme will be provided with a mapping document, scheme of work and certificate of attendance that meets the requirements of Ofqual and/or other governing bodies

LGV Driver Level 2 

  • Drivers’ Hours, Working Time and Record Keeping - designed to highlight drivers’ responsibilities under drivers’ hours legislation and provide practical experience of working with digital equipment
  • Driving for Work - designed for drivers of goods vehicles operating in a sector in which regulatory exemptions are utilised
  • Driving Skills Workshop - following the principles of defensive driving, this workshop provides a cost-effective method to enhance and improve driving skills
  • Driving with Digital - this course is designed to highlight drivers’ responsibilities under drivers’ hours recording equipment legislation
  • Driving Values - this course is designed to encourage drivers to follow best practice as well as compliance standards, ensuring that legal, safety and environmental obligations are met and exceeded
  • Operator Licence Compliance - this course details the responsibilities of both the driver and operator with regards to the operator licensing system and supporting regulations. Available in classroom or e-Learning format
  • Road Legal - this course offers an in-depth review of road traffic law to support a driver’s knowledge of navigating roads safely and securely with confidence
  • Safety First - this course is designed to encourage a positive workplace safety culture, concentrating on high risk workplace transport activities
  • Safety of Loads on Vehicles - this course provides drivers, loaders and unloaders with the knowledge and skills to deal with basic load configurations in a safe and efficient manner
  • Smart Motorways for Drivers - by the end of the course drivers will have a better understanding of how each type of Smart motorway can increase capacity and relieve congestion whilst maintaining safety which ultimately helps make journey times more reliable
  • Yard Shunter - this course is developed to provide drivers with training on techniques required to safely move heavy goods vehicles around a company’s premises and other off-road parking areas
  • Vehicle Safety - this course provides best practice advice and guidance and encourages understanding of driver and operator responsibilities with regards to maintaining a vehicle in a safe and roadworthy condition
  • Vulnerable Road Users - it will assist drivers in identifying the many types of vulnerable road users, provide the tools to change perception and develop a responsible attitude towards these groups of road users
  • ADR Initial and Refresher - all drivers of vehicles carrying dangerous goods, within scope of the ADR provisions, must attend a Department for Transport approved basic training course to legally qualify to transport such loads. ADR refresher courses are also available. It will assist drivers in identifying the many types of vulnerable road users, provide the tools to change perception and develop a responsible attitude towards these groups of road users
