Since Euro 0 engines, reductions in vehicle emissions have progressed at an impressive rate. From Euro I levels introduced in 1993, today’s Euro VI vehicles have reduced emissions of aound 95 per cent NOx and 97 per cent particulate matter (PM).
Euro VI for heavy engined vehicles was introduced for all newly registered vehicles from 31 December 2013, which reduces emissions from previous Euro V levels by around 80 per cent for NOx, and 67 per cent for PM.
