Traffic Commissioners top the bill at FTA Transport Manager conferences

Monday 08 August 2016

Delegates will have the chance to hear directly from the Traffic Commissioners on their priorities for the coming year at FTA Transport Manager sponsored by Iveco, which takes place from September to December. The popular conference series, supported by Goodyear Tyres and Microlise, prepares transport managers and those in charge of road transport fleets for the year ahead.

A Traffic Commissioner will be in attendance at each venue, discussing priorities for the coming year, regulatory developments, regional issues and the future of Operator Licensing.

Nick Denton, Traffic Commissioner for the south east and metropolitan area said: "In my experience many operators who come before me overlook the role of their transport manager.

"I believe that a transport manager is absolutely key in the freight and logistics industry. It is unusual as they almost have a dual loyalty; the first being to their employer - the operator, but they've also got a responsibility to society through the Traffic Commissioner to ensure that vehicles are road-worthy and safe, and that drivers are acting responsibly. Their role is therefore vital."

Other sessions at FTA Transport Manager 2016 include:

• DVSA - enforcement priorities and OCRS changes
• Leading transport safety at work
• Industry accreditation and earned recognition
• The DVLA's new driver licensing and medical systems
• Brexit - EU legislation, what would you change?

The cost for FTA members is £295 plus VAT for the first delegate and £265 plus VAT for subsequent delegates; for non-FTA members £395 plus VAT for the first delegate and £365 plus VAT for subsequent delegates.
