New FTA shippers’ guide helps chart the choppy waters of Brexit
Friday 31 March 2017
While post-Brexit trading arrangements with the EU are still undecided, the launch of the Freight Transport Association’s updated ‘Shippers’ Guide to European Road Freight’ at next week’s Multimodal Show in Birmingham (4-6 April at the NEC) will offer sound advice on how to manage haulage and third-party logistics supply chain operations in a new global marketplace.
FTA is the UK’s largest transport trade association with membership and expertise across all modes – road, rail, sea and air. The new guide gives a complete overview for shippers of current legislation and trading arrangements throughout Europe, plus details of the likely impact of Brexit on their operations.
Chris Welsh, FTA’s Director of Global and European Policy said: “At a time when shippers are under greater scrutiny than ever before to take responsibility for accurate weight declarations and load security, FTA’s updated Shippers’ Guide to European Road Freight provides a wealth of information and best practice advice including the CMR convention, road transport legislation, international trade and customs procedures. No shipper consigning or receiving goods by road to and from Europe should be without this essential guide.”
FTA will be hosting a day of seminars at the show on Wednesday (5 April) offering advice and information on a wide range of topics including the future of rail freight, valuing air cargo performance, inland waterways, mega-ships and alliances, new container weight rules and Brexit. The day will include workshops, masterclasses and panel discussions. Last year’s sessions were an outstanding success, with standing room only at every event, so delegates are advised to arrive early to take full advantage of the advice and information on offer.
FTA’s team of experts will be on stand 4110 at Multimodal to offer advice and information and copies of the new guide will be available to take away from the stand. For more details see http://www.fta.co.uk/events/FTA-at-Multimodal-2017.html
