FTA Transport Manager off to a flying start
Thursday 12 October 2017
The Freight Transport Association’s Transport Manager autumn conference series has got off to a flying start with four successful events having taken place and over 1,100 delegates booked to attend so far. There are still places left at venues around the country, but anyone hoping to attend who has not yet booked is advised to do so as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
The conference series, sponsored by truck manufacturer Iveco and supported by Brigade Electronics, Goodyear Tyres and Microlise, tours the UK from September to November, giving transport managers and those in charge of road transport fleets the opportunity to hear from key industry speakers and experts on the latest issues affecting their operation.
Transport Manager was in Yeovil this week (Tuesday 10 October), with highlights including Traffic Commissioner for the West of England, Kevin Rooney, talking about his priorities for the year ahead, the DVSA covering enforcement priorities and roadside stops, and the National Counter Terrorism Police advising on preventing vehicle use in terrorist activity. City centre truck restrictions, apprenticeships and skills, and vehicle technology and in-cab cameras were also popular sessions.
The feedback from delegates has been positive. Kate Wilson of Northumbrian Water, who attended the Newcastle event, said Transport Manager was “Always a thought-provoking event. Great to meet the Traffic Commissioner.”
David Rooney of Poundland Ltd, who attended the Knutsford event, said Transport Manager was “Always informative, professional and educational,” and Paul Thomas of TVS Supply Chain Solutions, who was also at Knutsford, said, “For me personally this has been an excellent event to ensure I do not take anything for granted in my role or expectations regarding drivers.”
